Clinical Psychologist and EMDR Consultant in Shirley, Croydon

Hello, my name is Dr Maria Carolina Yepes — but please call me Carolina.

I’m a Clinical Psychologist and EMDR Consultant with over 33 years of experience, including work within the NHS and private practice. I’ve supported people through a wide range of issues, from anxiety and depression to complex trauma and long-standing emotional difficulties.

My work is shaped by respect, empathy, and cultural awareness. I believe that therapy should be a safe, collaborative process where you feel heard and valued. My aim is to help you make lasting changes — not only in how you think and feel, but also in how you live and relate to others.

Alongside traditional talking therapies, I have a deep interest in holistic approaches that support overall wellbeing. I have practised Mindfulness Meditation for many years and have seen how mindfulness, energy work, and yoga can complement psychological therapies in powerful ways.

I completed my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of East London. I am registered with:

Over the years, I’ve trained in a range of therapeutic models, including:

Could your costs be covered?

I am registered to work with a number of leading health insurance companies, making it easier for clients to access therapy through their existing cover.

If you have a policy with Bupa, AXA, Vitality or Helix, you may be able to use your insurance to fund your sessions with me. Each provider has slightly different referral processes, but I’m happy to guide you through what you need and help you get things set up.

Working through insurance shouldn’t feel complicated. Once you’ve confirmed your eligibility with your provider, I can handle the rest of the administrative steps from my side. Simply let me know your membership or authorisation details, and I will ensure the correct information is processed for your sessions.

Many clients choose to use their insurance because it allows them to start therapy sooner, without worrying about upfront costs. Whether you’re coming to me for CBT, EMDR, or general counselling, you can feel confident that your sessions are recognised and covered by these major insurers.

If you’re unsure whether your policy includes mental health support, I’m happy to point you in the right direction so you can check with your provider. Call me to discuss on 07532 101543
